We will welcome you in a discrete and friendly atmosphere.
Shelburne Christmas Hampers is managed by a coordinator and supported by the Service Clubs of Shelburne. It has been in existence for more than 50 years. It is a program that assists local families with the extra constraints of the Holiday season in a discrete and controlled manner.
The program is open to qualified families, couples, singles and seniors. Each applicant will receive hampers of food (non-perishable & fresh), grocery gift cards to purchase a turkey, ham or Holiday specialty food of their choice, Gift cards for children aged 12 to 18 and toys for children under 12 years.
Toys, non-perishable food items and money are donated by the residents, businesses, organizations and schools in the Shelburne area. Collection sites are set up all around town and change from year to year but are always at the Town Hall and Pace Credit Union. We also collect at the Mel Lloyd Centre in the week leading up to pick up day.
In 2022 we provided a “helping hand” to 170 families.

Shelburne schools go above and beyond...
..to make sure that all kids have a happy Holiday! Who knows better than kids what kids would like for a special gift? We are very proud to say that all of the schools in Shelburne collect canned goods, toys, mitts, hats and gift cards to help make the program a success every year.
An amazing group of high school students do a lot of heavy lifting on collection day and work hard to sort all the items received to make hamper packing a breeze for the Kinsmen on Friday night before pick up.
Local churches get personal.
Eleven amazing churches in the Shelburne area donate personal care items to round out the Hampers. Everything from toothpaste to toilet paper is added to the hampers and is greatly appreciated by our hamper families.
Local farmers give big and fresh
We are so fortune to live in an area surrounded by generous farmers who never hesitate when asked if they will donate fresh fruit and vegetables to add to our hampers. They just say “let us know how many!”
Lennox Farms and Downey Potato Farms donate potatoes, cabbages, turnip and crates of oranges for all our hamper families.
Small businesses with big hearts.
Many of the businesses in Shelburne give generously to make this program a success. Giant Tiger helps our dollars stretch further by giving us great deals on grocery items and they also donate gift cards to further reduce our expenses.
